Line levels suspend along a length of string that's pulled taut between two points and assist with finding level between the points. Also known as string levels, they slide their looped ends onto the string and confirm level when their air pocket rests in the center of the bubble vial. They are commonly used over long distances when installing pavers and grading surfaces. Their flat bottom also allows them to sit directly on surfaces to check whether they are horizontally even.
