Daniel D. Chiras
Paperback, 8"x10", 250 pages, nicely illustrated with line drawings and B&W photos.
Chelsea Green Publishing, 2002.
A new book from Mother Earth News - Daniel Chiras has a Ph.D. in physiology and teaches courses on sustainability and environmental health at the universities of Colorado and Denver. This book is well-written and fairly dense - with a lot of detail on how to build in mass, using specific methods of construction. Daniel's own home is a straw bale, rammed tire house, which, he points out, works well with passive solar design. This is a nice primer on passive solar design.
