Diamond Stones

Diamond stones are sharpening plates with industrial diamonds bonded to a flat steel surface. They cut fast, they don't dish, and they handle the harder steels in Japanese chisels and modern blade alloys without breaking a sweat.

Unlike waterstones, they don't need soaking, flattening, or much fuss in general. A coarse grit for reshaping a damaged edge, a finer grit for the working bevel, and you're in business. Diamond stones aren't our only recommendation for sharpening, but they're a great option for anyone who wants a low-maintenance setup or works mostly with hard steels.
