Referred to as joinery or plane maker floats, these files are a woodworkers dream for shaping, sculpting, easing hard edges & joinery tuning. They remove material quickly like a rasp, but leave a very clean surface finish like you'd get from a file.
The curved teeth are arranged like a single cut file, but with the face of each tooth shaped like a mini-chipbreaker. The wood shaving breaks off & is forced up & away from the face of the file so the teeth are less prone to clog. The tailings created are not dust, but ultra mini-shavings & look as if they came from a tiny plane! The teeth are sharp & hard for efficient cutting & long life. Besides cutting standard woods, they can be used on bamboo, OSB, MDF, plastics & resins. All files have safe edges (no teeth on the edges) & are perfect for detailing up to an adjacent surface you don't want to cut.
Flat files have teeth on both sides. Half round files only have teeth on the convex side.
