This Two Cherries carving gouge carries the shallow #3 sweep, the gentle curve for smoothing and subtle shaping that most carvers reach for more than any other. Forged in Germany from Two Cherries steel and mounted in an octagonal hornbeam handle, it takes a keen edge and holds it through long paring sessions.
We stock the #3 in three profiles: straight (the standard, blade running from shank to edge in one line) in fourteen widths from 2 to 35 mm; spoon bent, with a dogleg that reaches into hollows and recesses, in seven widths; and spade, a fishtail flare that gets into corners, in three widths.
