Robert Sorby

Robert Sorby has been forging woodworking and woodturning tools in Sheffield, England, since 1810. Sheffield was the world's steel capital for most of the 1800s, and Sorby is one of the few makers still working there, still grinding edges that hold up to a lifetime of turning and carving.

Their gouges, parting tools, and scrapers are the kind of tools you buy once. Their leather edge guards keep those edges protected between projects, and the ProEdge sharpening system makes it easy to put a working bevel back on them when the time comes. Old-world steel, made the way it's been made for over two centuries.
