With the latest forging and hardening technology and a chrome vanadium tool steel that is suited for this application, these chisels are manufactured according to DIN standard 5141. 

The manufacturer guarantees a Rockwell hardness of 61 HRC in close tolerances over the entire useful length of the gouge. Each gouge is tested for hardness and edge retention.
