The MHG Carpenter Chisel is built in Thuringen, Germany to the DIN 5141 standard, the same disciplined manufacturing behind every MHG tool we carry. The blade is chrome-vanadium tool steel hardened to a guaranteed 61 HRC through its whole length, and every chisel is individually tested for hardness and cutting performance before it leaves the factory. It comes fine-ground and sharpened, ready to work.
This is the working carpenter's pattern: enough blade for cleaning mortise and tenon joints and fine-tuning timber frame joinery, tough enough to ride in a site box and take mallet work. The hornbeam handle is shaped for both paring and chopping. The 35 mm is the chisel we put in our Weekender Kit, which tells you what we think of it.
