Tung oil is one of the oldest finishes in woodworking: a hard-drying natural oil that penetrates deep, resists water and marring, and cures to a lustrous matte finish that will not darken with age the way linseed does. Real Milk Paint's version is 100% pure and top quality, with nothing else in the can: no thinners, no driers, no varnish masquerading under the tung oil name.
It is FDA approved for food contact, which makes it the honest choice for cutting boards, counters, and everything your kitchen touches. Thin it 1:1 with citrus solvent for the first coats so it soaks in, or reach for their pre-mixed Half & Half. It is dry to the touch in about a day and reaches full hardness over a couple of weeks. A light coat rubbed on tool steel also makes a fine rust inhibitor, which is how a can of it earns its keep in our shop. Sizes run from a 1 oz sample through 8 oz, 16 oz, and 32 oz to a gallon.
