Rust happens, especially in a Maine shop in August. The Japanese rust eraser makes removing it as simple as it sounds: a rubber block impregnated with carefully graded abrasives that you rub across the steel like an eraser across pencil.

No chemicals, no soaking, no disassembly. It rapidly lifts rust and tarnish from saw plates, chisel backs, and plane soles while restoring the surface underneath, which makes it cheap insurance for every steel tool you own. Three color-coded grits: 36 grit blue for heavy rust, 120 grit white for general cleanup, and 320 grit red for polishing the surface back.
