The Gyokucho Ryoba Razorsaw puts a rip edge and a crosscut edge on one thin, flexible blade. Ryoba means "both blades," and it is the traditional Japanese carpenter's answer to carrying two saws. It cuts on the pull stroke, so the blade stays in tension, the kerf stays narrow, and the cut tracks your line with far less effort than a Western push saw. The teeth are graduated for easy starts, the blade sits at an angle in the handle for reaching awkward cuts, and Gyokucho impulse-hardens each tooth so it stays sharp long after an ordinary saw fades.

The size you want depends on your work. The 210 and the fine-toothed 240 Komame are finish carpentry and furniture saws. The standard 240 is the general carpentry pick. The 270 is the all-rounder, and the 300 is the timber framer's choice, the one our students learn on. Every blade snaps out for a replacement in seconds, the handle is sold on its own, and the saw comes apart for storage in a saw wrap.
