The Acadian Half Wedge honors the French Canadian woodsmen who conquered the north woods of Maine and Eastern Canada: a robust 2.75-lb head in the traditional half wedge pattern, thicker than a felling axe and thinner than a splitter, so one tool fells small trees and turns them into firewood. The poll is thicker than the Allagash Cruiser's, shifting the balance forward for noticeably more splitting power in knotty or twisted grain.

Hand-forged by Brant & Cochran in South Portland, stamped "Brant & Cochran S. Portland, ME," hung on a 30-in Amish-turned hickory handle, and delivered in a Maine-made leather sheath.
